Wood For Life Barn Doors Review from Saint Isidore, Ontario
This is the perfect exemple of "beware of the internet's reviews".. The communication from the start was great, they did everything in a very short period of time, the result was phenomenal and it is without a doubt that I recommend this company.. People are always more tempted to write bad reviews because of their frustration.. When something goes well, people don't think about anything but their own personal satisfaction.. I read the reviews but now that I see how easy it is to write a review on here, it's a shame and that's why I came back because this website is disrespectful.. Good job Wood For Life.. Two thumbs up !!

WOOD FOR LIFE - LAW SUIT
Dear fellow Wood For Life Upset Customers, Brittany Boyd of Wood For Life has also recently victimized me. Our initial meetings and communications were good, she was very quick to reply and showed beautiful photos of custom wood furniture that she claims to have done. However things quickly changed after she received our deposit. She claimed that it would take 6-8 weeks to complete our order. After 8 weeks I contacted her to request a completion date when she replied to me with design questions. It was obvious that the work on our order had not yet started. Fast forward many weeks later, our order was finally complete. When we went to pick it up, it was not what we expected. The final product was not as we discussed nor did it resemble the photo we provided; it was made of pine and not reclaimed hemlock as she claimed it would be and the quality and workmanship was poor. This was immediately brought to her attention, and she claimed she would make the fixes. At this point I began looking into Wood For Life and found all the negative reviews and testimonials. Knowing that we were not dealing with an honest and professional company I realized that I would have to cut my losses and have to make the best of this bad situation. Several attempts have been made to try and salvage this situation (there are many details of my story that I purposely left out but will share), but it has finally reached an end after several agonizing months. I am now prepared to commence a legal action against Wood For Life and Brittany Boyd. I have read many reviews and want to reach out to other victimized customers to see if you also wish to commence a legal action or if you are willing to provide a character reference. If you are interested please send me an email to stopwfl@***.com and I would be happy to discuss. I hope to commence my legal action before 31 January 2016. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon. If you are not a Wood For Life customer, do yourself a favour and stay far away. Save your hard earned money.

Very Unhappy
We originally entered into an agreement in March of 2014 with Britney Boyd of "Wood for Life" for furniture to be ready 6-8 weeks later. At that point we were told 4 weeks, at that point we were told 2 weeks, at that point we were told one week and ultimately we did not see the furniture until August after several visits to her location to follow up with her because of unreturned emails and calls. At delivery the harvest table was the wrong size, the finish poor and the bed collapsed the first time we tried to use it. She said all would be fixed by end of August and a new table delivered to replace this one. After that date passed without contact and after more un-returned emails we again went to her location to set a delivery date. That was missed and another was set and again that was missed. We have decided to keep the old table rather than have to deal with her any further and I repaired the bed myself. It is really hard to explain what her issues are but if you want to take a huge risk in buying furniture this would be a way to do it.

Would not deliver product, did not refund deposit, difficult to communicate with
We contracted with Wood for Life in July 2014 to provide us with a live-edge counter. They indicated 8 weeks for pick up and we put a $100 deposit down. After the 8 week period we contacted them multiple times and through multiple channels and they would not commit to a pick up time. Finally after almost 6 months they indicated they would not be able to deliver the product. I asked for a refund of the deposit. It has since been over a week and they are not returning my calls or messages. Do not put your trust in these people.

Will not answer phone/emails for pick up of products ordered.
In June 2014 I ordered a barn beam mantle and a Harvest table. I was Leary to her and did not want to pay a deposit until items were complete. On July 27th she indicated the mantle was complete and ready for pick up. We drove down only to get a call that she needed to leave for the weekend, and she would be back Sunday, Sunday came and went and we received another call that her roof was damaged at her cottage and it would be a few more days to repair it. We agreed she would call when she was back. No calls came, no emails. We called and emailed again knowing our house which was under construction needed the mantle now asap to finish the fireplace for closing date of August 28. She has not answered any phone calls, no return of messages and no reply to any emails. Now we have no time to replace our fireplace with a mantle from a reliable company. And no table when we move in next week for our family of 6 to eat from. What a complete joke. Brittany Boyd should not be allowed to maintain a business in the province of Ontario. If anyone is interested in pooling together, she should be sued by everyone affected.

Positive Experience Review
I just want to take the time to say how pleased I am with my harvest table. For the cost there is nothing comparable.

Poor quality and service
I received my dining table and benches in early April, 5 weeks late and after many emails and phone calls. Three days after receiving them, we noticed the wood on the table had warped and that the wood was put on the benches upside down. Also, the wood had not been cleaned down properly before staining so the finished surface was gritty. I sent Brittany some videos showing the warping and discussed the bench tops. She promised to replace the benches and the table. That was 3 months ago. Since then there were many more emails and phone calls resulting in more promises and excuses. Stay away from Wood for Life: Brittany and Thomas Boyd. They will take your money in exchange for extremely poor service and quality of products.

Stole my money
Same case as the other reviewers, this supposed company made promises they did not keep and disappeared with my money. Dining room table and benches was I paid for and not I have a dining room table with no where to sit. This started in July 2013 and to date, I still have not received the benches. Repeated attempts at contacting them were useless. They will not respond. I am now out $300 because of these thieves. DO NOT deal with these scammers. They will take your money without remorse. A quick google search will show you that Brittany Boyd is a conniving crook.

Wood order was for reclaimed hemlock but on delivery it was pine.
I visited Brittany at her site in Manotick and we discussed material for a staircase to match our wood floors. She showed an example of wood which looked very similar to what we have & an order was placed for custom cut & milled reclaimed hemlock. When we went to pick it up the wood was all cut to size as ordered & seemed to be ok although a bit lighter toned than what I expected. On loading it into the carpenters shed he said...it's pine not hemlock!!!!& not reclaimed. I contacted Brittany & she denies that it is pine & also that it is old wood but from a tree...so far no satisfaction as I want my money back as this is fraud.....Too bad I hadn't seen this site before getting involved with this company. Will be contacting BBB etc

Non-delivery after reservation and confirmation
Wood for life has bins for garbage / waste removal for rent. I reserved a large waste bin for materials to be removed. It was through an ad placed on Kijiji. The arrangement was confirmed via email and then again on the day of by phone. The bin was never delivered, and calls and emails that evening went unanswered. It was apparently rented to someone else. Had they told me this in advance it would have been better, but since I had arranged for labourers to be hired it compounded the situation. I would avoid these guys - from my searching online apparently I am not the first to have this type of complaint. I wish I had done that research before calling them!

Wood for life scammers
Anyone thinking of doing business with this company think again. The owners, Britney and Thomas BOYD will happily take your payment, full payment if they can get it but will not supply you with any furniture and will avoid your calls. Please take a look at the Better Business Bureau rating (F) and complaints received. If you’re still not put off by that then ask Wood For Life to actually show you what they’re making as I’ve been to their new premises in Manotick and there’s no sign of a workshop or that any furniture is being made. After receiving full payment in early June 2013 for a $1200 Harvest table with a completion date of late July, Britney then avoided my calls. I managed to speak to her early August, after calling from a different number and she told me they were behind due to the move from Winchester but that my table would be ready mid August. I then contacted her again on 1 September as I hadn’t heard from them to be told that the table was fully built but had not been varnished so they needed 2 more weeks.i I informed them that I had an Important dinner party in mid September and had sold my present table because of their promises. They informed me that it would be ready the night before the dinner party. I then called them in on that day and Britney confirmed that the table would be ready for collection at 7pm. She then called me back a 2pm telling me the table was in pieces and would therefore not be ready. On questioning her further she hung up. I then attended their new address on Downey Road, Manotick and, as I approached Thomas saw me and walked quickly to the house, leaving Britney to face the questions. She again told me that the table was faulty so they had to remove the legs. I asked to see the table in order to confirm her story. She then admitted she had been lying all along and that they hadn’t actually started building the table. She then promised, on video that it would be built and complete by 10 October 2013. On 10 October she contacted me to ask for 2 more days. I asked for proof that the table was being built and she sent me a photo, now believed to be a previous project from the Winchester premises. I again gave her the 2 days and so received a further text for yet another 2. On Sunday 20 Oct I travelled over to Manotick again to find the gate locked, even though Britney had told me it would be ready. I then called her and got voicemail. She then called back telling me no one was home and I couldn’t have the table or the $1200. I’ve since received texts from her indicating that I should stop complaining and not attend the premises. The company appears to have gone from a legitimate business, when based in Winchester to a couple that are openly defrauding people. On the surface they appear to be very pleasant but, once they have your money they will stop at nothing to avoid customers calls and complaints Do not deal with this company and, if like me, it appears that they took your payment with no intention of ever supplying the goods, file a report with the Ottawa Police as it’s clearly fraud.

This company stole my money and now has gone AWOL
Purchased product from Wood for Life/BrittanyBoyd. Promised to delivered, never did, stood me up repeatedly. Weeks of waiting, wouldn't reply to emails or phone calls; when finally spoke with her she gave me *** excuses (cell phone broke down, in hospital, weather, out of town); none of which precluded her from rescheduling. No public physical business address - cannot collect my item or my money. Refused to return my money in what looked like a drunken confusing misspelled email saying she wouldn't let me make a profit. Lost hundreds of dollars. These folk are SCAMMERs and after conversation with Police, fraud artists. Stay far away.

Ripped off
Wood for life was supposed to build a table for me. We paid a deposit and they arranged a date to deliver. That day came and went. And then we arranged another day and time and it also came and went, this happened three times with no delivery showing up. Soon after contact seized from the owners. We contacted the police and the Better Business Bureau and they refused to respond. So they stole our deposit and since then we haven't been able to contact anyone from their company. Once we realized we were frauded we looked up reviews on their company and realized they screwed over other people the same way. DONT EVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!
